A computer monitor and small keyboard sit on a desk, with a slim mouse, coffee cup, and a plant. On the screen is the landing page of Bela’s new course on Eduflow:  Building and Inclusive Quality Assurance Rubric.  In the blurred  office background are a window, exposed brick, and wall shelves.

Exciting news! I am thrilled to announce my new course, “Building an Inclusive Quality Assurance Rubric,” which begins on March 27 in the Eduflow Academy!  If you’ve followed me for even a short while, you know that I actively advocate for a move beyond compliance-based accessibility in favor of inclusive accessibility.

Inclusive Accessibility

Inclusive accessibility is a concept I created out of frustration and, I’ll be honest, anger.  I noticed that while content and spaces were “accessible”, this only was true in the sense that compliance, however that looks for each space, was met.  It left me feeling as though the efforts to create these spaces was only due to obligation – not a desire to be inclusive and compassionate.

Quality Assurance for Inclusion and Accessibility

In today’s world, it is more important than ever to ensure that your organization is inclusive and accessible to all participants in the learning experience. One of the most best ways to achieve this goal is through quality assurance (QA).  QA provides a framework and process for consistency in evaluating assets.  Without a proper QA system in place, it can be challenging to track and measure the effectiveness of your organization’s efforts to promote accessibility and inclusion.

Course Overview

This course is specifically for decision-makers and instructional designers who want to improve their organization’s inclusion and accessibility efforts.  By the end of the course, you’ll have your own custom QA framework in place to help drive progress and maximize inclusion for all your participants in the learning experience.

Platform

Building an Inclusive Quality Assurance Rubric is being housed on the Eduflow platform in their Eduflow Academy.  Eduflow is a learning management system (LMS) with an ultra-clean interface and intuitive drag-and-drop features.  As an organization, the folks at Eduflow put a lot of energy and focus on instructional designers, offering courses in their Academy and frequent webinars.

Course Format

One of the most exciting features of this course is that it is cohort-based, which means that you will have the opportunity to connect with and learn from like-minded peers!  This community-driven aspect of the course is a great way to stay motivated, make friends, and grow your network.

The course is also project-based, which means that you will be building your own custom quality assurance framework throughout the course and walking away with an actionable tool to integrate into your organization’s processes.  Additionally, Eduflow’s unique peer feedback activity will give you the opportunity to learn from others and give advice as you give anonymous feedback.

Finally, there will be optional live sessions every week with me to help you get the most out of the course.
